Xylitol

Xylitol is a sugar alcohol used as a sweetener in white crystalline powder form. It occurs naturally in low concentrations in the fibers of many fruits and vegetables, and it can be extracted from various berries, oats, and mushrooms, as well as from fibrous material such as corn husks and sugarcane bagasse. Xylitol is chemically pure and contains no additives, preservatives, or colors.

It is freely soluble in water and slightly soluble in ethanol. Xylitol is manufactured without the use of pesticides/herbicides, allergens, BSE/BTEs, or GMOs.

Xylitol is actively beneficial for dental health by reducing cavities and aiding in the remineralization of tooth enamel. Polyols such as xylitol are not fully absorbed and metabolized by the body, which is why they have fewer calories than sugar and are considered a low-glycemic food. That makes them especially useful as a sugar alternative for people with diabetes, as they will not cause a sudden increase in blood sugar levels after consumption.
